Why does TVSM Exist?
It's always important to ask the question "why?" before beginning any process in life worth pursuing. As Talor and I moved to the Lewis-Clark valley, I couldn't help but to continuously ask myself why we were willing to come this far from where we used to call home. The answer to this question is the foundation for all our efforts in ministering to the people of our new home. We came to this part of the country, thousands of miles from our friends and families, to pursue the will of God and to bring His name more glory through our lives. This brings me to the point where I can now answer the question, why does Tammany View Student Ministry exist?
Why does Tammany View Student Ministry exist?
To develop a genuine relationship with God in the lives of junior and senior high students in the LC Valley including students already at Tammany View Baptist Church as well as those we have not yet reached. This purpose statement can be summed up in three key principles of TVSM: Kingdom expansion (Matthew 28:19; Acts 1:8; 2 Corinthians 4:4), authentic sanctification (Malachi 3:2-3; Colossians 3:2; Hebrews 11:10), and worldview transformation (Psalm 90:2; John 3:16-18, 10:30, 14:6, 16:33; Romans 1:16; Philippians 2:3-4; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 1 John 4:7, 19).
Expanding the Kingdom of God by cultivating authentic sanctification and radical transformation of the worldview of every student we encounter.
How will the mission of TVSM be accomplished?
This three pronged mission will be accomplished through regular study of Scripture, transformational discipleship in small groups, and intentional prayer with and for each student (Acts 2:42). In addition to the responsibility of Christian parenting, these necessary practices of the Christian faith partnered with a genuine and loving relationship with volunteer adult leaders will produce a culture within TVSM that will encourage every student to develop his or her own faith in God and relationship with Him.
Leading students to develop their own faith in Jesus and have an understanding of what a legitimate relationship with God is according to the teachings of Scripture.
What are the goals of TVSM?
Kingdom Expansion: Reaching students and their families that have not placed their faith in Jesus Christ as Redeemer and Lord with the good news of His death and resurrection.
Authentic Sanctification: Leading our students to take ownership of their own genuine and functioning relationship with God based on the teachings of Scripture.
Worldview Transformation: Developing a gospel centered perspective of life that fully encompasses the lives of every student encountered by TVSM.
The mission and vision of TVSM will help guide our efforts in ministering to the junior and senior high students in the LC Valley. I pray that God will use Talor, myself, and each of you to bring His name glory in a greater way than we could ever expect.
